An Introduction
Our Child Care Center opened it's doors on September 7, 1983 with Ms. Erma Bedwell as the director. Ms. Erma has been the director now for 29 years, and she will retire at the end of this school year. We hope you'll join us in wishing her a happy retirement.
Our Curriculum
Our main objective is to make learning fun. If a child believes this,
his thirst for knowledge never ends. The toddler class(18mo. to 36 mo.)
will learn about farm animals, zoo animals, the family, and holidays for
the first 4 months of the school year. This is transition time for the
toddlers and a time for them to learn to play together, share, listen to
stories, etc. Beginning in January, they will be introduced to colors,
numbers, and shapes.
The pre k class (4 & 5 yr)will be introduced to 3 letters a month. Sometimes
we will have a special visitor or activity to go along with a letter. During
“B” week, we will have a “bear party”, “D” week a dentist may come to
tell us how to take care of our teeth, “E” week an optometrist may come
to tell us how to take care of our eyes, “F” week the fire truck comes,
“G” week a doctor may come and tell us about germs, we may also have
the police, Smokey the Bear, etc. If you would like to come and share
something about your occupation with us, please let us know.
The preschool class will have a “bear party” also and cowboy day and
pajama day. We will look for the gingerbread boy who runs away and
then we will decorate him and eat him. The preschool class will be
introduced to numbers, colors, nursery rhymes, and we will touch on the
alphabet.
